Lacie drives conserve power by spinning down when you set your computer to sleep mode.
Lacie rugged hard drive not showing up.
Open file explorer and check if the external hard drive appears.
Step 1 first of all look for the external hard drive in the finder window.
Step 2 if the external drive is not there make sure that usb cable is properly plugged in the external hard drive and the port.
Connect the lacie external hard drive to your pc via its usb cable.
If you right click on the lacie drive shown you may have the option to format the partition s ntfs for windows or you could convert the entire disk to a mbr disk.
Now look for the drive below the remote disk.
Only use certified interface cables such as the cables provided with your lacie drive.
If you have followed all of these steps and the drive is still not recognized shut down your computer wait 3 to 5 minutes restart your computer and try again.
Check lacie external hard drive state.
Unfortunately in that case you will need to contact a data recovery company in case the data stored on the drive is really important.
Try disconnecting the firewire usb cable from the drive and take the drive to a quiet place.
Ignore this message since the drive remounts on the desktop despite the pop up.
With the drive connected open disk management search for computer management disk management.
Power up the drive and put your ear next to it.
When the computer awakes from sleep mode the drive may not have enough time to spin up causing the pop up to appear.
For this click on file and then click new finder window.
If not open disk management and check the external hard drive state.
